This Hi-Beat 36000 watch shares the same Evolution 9 design as the celebrated ‘White Birch’ SLGH005 but is presented with a black dial that captures the atmosphere of the white birch tree forests on the Hiraniwa Plateau at night. These forests cover some 400 hectares and are located near the studio in Shizukuishi where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted.

Its powerful hands and grooved, prominent markers ensure perfect legibility. Its Zaratsu polished, distortion-free mirror finish and delicate hairline finish alternate to give the case a quiet and harmonious glow. The case has wide lugs and a low center of gravity that ensure that the watch sits easily and securely on the wrist.
This high-beat watch is powered by the revolutionary Caliber 9SA5, which offers a power reserve of 80 hours thanks to the high efficiency of Grand Seiko’s unique Dual Impulse Escapement and the high power generation of the twin barrels.

This watch celebrates the 55th anniversary of 44GS's first launch in 1967. The 1967 44GS was the watch that first embodied the design code known as the ‘Grand Seiko Style’ which gave Grand Seiko its distinctive look and which inspires every new creation to this day. Its international recognition was enhanced when the 44GS Hi-Beat 36000 GMT won an award at the 2014 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. This watch shares the same design as the 55th Anniversary Limited Edition but the case and bracelet are in high-intensity titanium, a material that is 30% lighter than steel and highly resistant to both scratches and corrosion.

The fine grain of the pattern radiates outwards and catches the light at every angle. It has a soft texture, as if it were the finest silk, which can only be created by the application of soft silver, using a special method of silver plating.

On the company’s 140th anniversary, a limited edition Grand Seiko GMT brings the founder’s vision to life.

Kintaro Hattori, who founded the company in 1881, had a clear vision for Seiko. He wanted it to be ‘Always on step ahead of the rest’ and nothing exemplifies better the way that the company is still loyal to this idea than Grand Seiko with its focus on advancements in the fundamentals of watchmaking. This Quartz GMT watch offers the high precision, durability and ease of use that are the very hallmarks of Grand Seiko. The muscular steel case has a ceramic bezel whose hardness protects it from scratches and ensures its lasting beauty.

The yellow of the GMT hand is mirrored in the dial ring to make it easy to read the 24 hour hand at a glance and the GMT hand is illuminated by a Lumibrite that emits a different color than that of the hour and minute hands and indexes, ensuring high legibility even in the dark. The twin pulse quartz caliber 9F86 delivers the high torque needed to keep the wide hands moving precisely and offers the wearer the convenience of being able to change the time zone without stopping the seconds hand. In commemoration of 140 years of horological excellence, the back of the watch carries designed the Grand Seiko lion badge in 18K yellow gold.

The screw-down crown is recessed at the four o’clock position for extra security and the watch is water resistant to 20 bar. All this, in a case that is just 40.5 mm in diameter. GMT and sports. A perfect combination.

SBGM245 is designed to be a go-to for any frequent traveler. The stainless steel case measures 40.5mm in diameter, is rated to 200 meters, and has a magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m. The bezel is stainless steel and adorned with a 24-hour scale in bold lettering. It is fixed to the case, allowing for the tracking of two time zones.

The blue dial has a vibrant sunray finish. The hands and indexes are multi-faceted, beautifully textured, and feature ample LumiBrite paint for excellent nighttime legibility. The red GMT hand can be adjusted without compromising the watch’s accuracy. It has a distinctive shape that makes it visible immediately against the dial.

SBGM245 runs on caliber 9S66. This is a true GMT movement, which means that the local hour hand is independently adjustable while the GMT hand remains fixed to “home” time. The immediate benefit of this functionality is that upon arriving to a new locale in a different time zone, the owner can simply advance the hour hand forward or backward in one-hour increments to the appropriate time without having to reset the watch.

Caliber 9S66 is rated to +5 to -3 seconds per day (when static), has a duration of 72 hours, and features 35 jewels. Like all Grand Seiko mechanical movements, 9S66 is produced by the highly skilled watchmakers of the Shizukuishi Watch Studio.

Elegance Collection Urushi dial model

The dial showcases a form of Japanese craftsmanship, Urushi lacquer. The dial is made from long lasting Urushi that comes from trees grown in and around the town of Joboji that lies under Mt. Iwate, the mountain that dominates the skyline above the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. The black dial uses the lacquer mixed with iron to give it its distinctive deep jet black color.

High-legibility index decorated with a raised maki-e technique by the master of Kaga Maki-e Urushi, Isshu Tamura. The combined grace of the brush strokes of the Arabic numerals and the tension expressed by the markers emphasize the beauty and grace of the dial even more.
Only Joboji lacquer from Iwate Prefecture, the birthplace of the 9S Mechanical movements, is used. Domestic lacquer accounts for only a very small percentage of the lacquer used in Japan. Its handling is very difficult compared to foreign varieties, but it brings out deep black colors.
