Grand Seiko SBGA471 Sōkō Edition USA Exclusive Spring Drive

$6,000.00

Sōkō Edition SBGA471 – Inspired by Autumn’s First Frost.

Celebrating the end of Autumn when the first frost embraces the forest, SBGA471 Sōkō Frost is one of two new, US-exclusive Special Edition timepieces exploring the Japanese sekki. The light blue dial with its vertical texture and tonal accents is inspired by the frozen trunks of the bamboo trees that line the famed Arashiyama forest. The acclaimed stainless steel 44GS case measures 40mm in diameter and features perfectly flat and mirror polished surfaces, a detail made possible via Grand Seiko’s renowned Zaratsu finishing method.

Reinterpretations of the past.
Both Sōkō models use modern reinterpretations of Grand Seiko models from 1967, the 44GS and 62GS.  The 44GS design used on the SBGA471 set the standard for all Grand Seiko design moving forward while the 62GS, used on SBGH295, was the first self-winding Grand Seiko model.

Powered by Spring Drive
The Spring Drive 9R65 Caliber is designed, adjusted, and assembled by hand by the highly skilled craftspeople at Grand Seiko’s Shinshu Watch Studio in Japan. 9R65 is a spring-driven movement with a state-of the-art regulator that functions without an external power source. Its sole power source is a mainspring, which drives a series of gears like a traditional mechanical watch, and delivers a precision of one second a day, a rate unprecedented for a watch powered by a mainspring. Spring Drive is widely recognized as one of the great innovations of modern watchmaking.

Additional Strap
The Sōkō collection will each include an additional crocodile leather strap with three-fold clasp and contrast stitching.
